In January 2003, God entrusted His servant with a divine vision, igniting a bold faith journey. This calling required unwavering trust, leaving behind the church where he was raised and served as Youth Pastor, enduring opposition, and embracing faith beyond resources or circumstances. Pastor Brown learned to praise God in advance, obediently, without seeking human approval. This vision called for a non-traditional worship setting free from denominational constraints and a community that could worship God outside traditional boundaries.
After searching for a place to gather, God instructed Pastor Brown to trust Him and use what he had. On February 2, 2003, Raining Manna Christian Center held its first service in the living room of its founders, Pastors Michael and Faye Brown. Despite skepticism and opposition, a community of believers caught the vision. From February 2003 to February 2004, their home on Covenant Court in Lorman, Mississippi, became a “sanctuary.” Furniture was removed, but the Holy Spirit filled the space, transforming hearts and strengthening faith.
In March 2004, worship moved to the Jefferson County Middle School Gymnasium in Fayette, Mississippi. The setting was unconventional, but God's presence was undeniable. The summer heat was intense, yet the Spirit burned hotter, and fall breezes carried fresh anointing. Without a sanctuary of their own, they witnessed firsthand that God makes a way even from nothing.
Remaining faithful, Pastor Brown received another vision, a glimpse of the blessings to come. Just days into worshiping in the gym, God led him to a
recently vacated church on Main Street in Fayette, Mississippi, which had been unavailable the year before. The vision was clear, but faith, obedience, and effort were required. On October 21, 2004, Pastor Faye carefully prepared a proposal, which Pastor Brown presented to the esteemed Presbyterian General Assembly of Mississippi.
The call came on December 29, 2004. Despite submitting the lowest bid, Raining Manna was chosen. By December 30, 2004, their faith had become apparent: God had made a way. The year of worship in the gym was a season of spiritual and membership growth. God nurtured, matured, and prepared us for our predestined place.
On March 6, 2005, Raining Manna Christian Center conducted its Blessing of the House service, entering the current home at 1405 Main Street, Fayette, Mississippi. Dr. Raymond Biard, the pastor and founder of Jackson Revival Center in Jackson, MS, blessed the house. The sanctuary seats 350 people and includes a musician's loft, library, media room, and office space. The fellowship hall, Manna Hall, contains a full kitchen and a flexible meeting area.
From crossing the cattle gap into our pastor’s living room to enduring the changing seasons at the gym to glorifying God in our preordained Christian Center, His promises have never failed us. He has stretched our faith, led us to victory, and proven He is able. Join us in our mission to be a church that will meet you where you are and bring you to where God has commanded you to be: Saving Lives One Soul at a Time as the outpouring of Raining Manna continues.
